Software Freedom Day
Thanks to the extra Ethernet card Dylan lent me, http://possum.kicks-ass.org is back up!
And no sooner than to talk about Software Freedom Day (SFD). SFD was two days ago, on Saturday September 16. A bunch of us went and handed out free software at MOSI during the day and Mirta’s Gallery Coffee House in the night. As the coordinator of the event reflects on the SLUG mailing list,
Software Freedom Day went very well yesterday. A dozen or so members of SLUG
helped out throughout the day and managed to distribute over 700 CDs. The
exhibit at MOSI had over 10 demonstration computers set up and they were in
use by a wide demographic for most of the time. The exhibit at Mirta’s saw
less traffic but those who stopped by were very interested in Linux.
The day went very well, and in addition to the Free Software ideals, a lot of us were just there having fun! Dylan was “Software Freedom Man,” with my deadly penguin cane as a weapon! Also, these kids seem to know what they’re doing!
