MySpace Auto Bulletin Test Run
Morning! I’m listening to the radio right now and they’re talking about the Wii controller fiasco. But that’s not the purpose of this post. No, wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could have your personal blog do something like automatically post a MySpace bulletin whenever you post an entry on your blog? This may be possible very soon if you have a Wordpress blog.
If everything goes as expected, the first paragraph in this post will be automagically posted to a MySpace bulletin. This is thanks to the Wordpress plugin I am currently developing called “MyspaceAutoBulletin.” This is made possible with a bit of PHP and Perl hackery, plus a little Perl module called WWW::Mechanize.
Although the script is in a working state, I cannot currently release the plugin as I am currently unsure how secure it is, and it’s not easily configurable at this point (a lot of hardcoded stuff). I will definitely release it as soon as possible under the GPL.

Blargh…This is gonna take a while. It worked for about 2-3 posts and then just died. I have to do some major debugging to figure out what went wrong.

I noticed this is among the top-requested posts on my site. I’d like to point out that I’ve abandoned this project in light of myspace now requiring IMAGE VERIFICATION (Captchas) for something as simple as posting a bulletin. This is moronic on myspace’s part, and I don’t particularly want to be a part of it anymore; playing catch-up to make my life easier makes it more difficult in the long run.
